Part of the next wave in the thriving Afro-Latin alternative scene of greater Los Angeles & The Inland Empire, El Santo Golpe's debut release on Names You Can Trust leaves its mark with a very personal fusion of Central American & Caribbean folkloric traditions. This influence of different styles & cultures across the divergent regions is on full display, from the time honored rhythms and percussion of Garifuna music, to those lovingly recognizable lead elements such as the acordeón in cumbia (as heard in La Cosecha) or the jarana in son jorocho (as heard in El Camotal). It is through this uniquely American, and more specifically, Californian experience, that this group of peers has been able to come together to form a new set of multi-cultural roots and attitudes. The result of this two-sided debut is a fusion of raw percussion, unbridled energy & live performance. Two heavy sides to be celebrated within the dance.
